7th Spectral Line Shapes in Plasmas Code Comparison Workshop

7th Spectral Line Shapes in Plasmas Code Comparison Workshop

Between the 30th of September and the 4th of October 2024, the 7th Spectral Line Shapes in Plasmas (SLSP) Code Comparison Workshop took place in Gran Canaria. The workshop was organized by the Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC), the Weizmann Institute of Science (WIS), the Universidad de Valladolid (UVa), the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

During this workshhop, expert researchers on the field of line broadening in plasmas come together and discuss state-of-the-art computational models and simulations for calculating the shape of different spectral lines under experimentally-relevant conditions, from the spectra of white dwards, to plasmas irradiated with X-ray lasers. The participants are given some problems in advance, to apply their models to, and the possible discrepancies are discussed during the workshop.

Two members of our group attended the meeting, presenting results from three different codes, and coordinating a session on the topic of the effect of intereference terms in the line shape of Hydrogen plasmas.

Session on the effect of large periodic fields on plasma spectra.
