International School on Atomic and Molecular Data Evaluation and Curation

We are pleased to announce that we will be hosting the first International School on Atomic and Molecular Data Evaluation and Curation, in collaboration with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and supported by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The school will take place in October 22nd-25th (2023), in the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Valladolid (Spain).

The school will focus on good practices regarding critical compilation and treatment of atomic data, networking and knowledge-exchanging activities.

School objectives:

  • Training of data producers and future group leaders on critical compilation and curatiion of atomic data.
  • Developing skills for atomic data description and classification (metadata descriptors, FAIR data principles and similar).
  • Connecting the atomic data community with the NLTE atomic kinetics community to enhance communication.
  • Establishment of collaborations and partnerships among participants.
  • Networking, Knowledge Exchange and Capacity-building within the atomic data community.

  1. It’s exciting to see initiatives like the International School on Atomic and Molecular Data, promoting best practices and collaboration. I wonder how participants from different countries will exchange methodologies and tackle challenges in data curation. Additionally, what long-term impact could this school have on research accuracy and global scientific standards?
